The Electoral Commission (EC) is to embark on a revision of the voters’ register for about nine days.
The revision is a limited voter registration exercise intended to offer Ghanaians who have attained the voting age of 18 years since the last registration in 2012 and those who were above 18 years but could not, for various reasons, register as voters in 2012 .
The registration is expected to take off on Friday June 20th, 2014 to Sunday June 29th 2014 from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm each day.
The registration will take place at designated registration centers in all electoral areas throughout the country.
A press statement signed by the Deputy Chairman of Operations at the Electoral Commission, Mr. Amadu Sulley indicated that applicants will be required to show proof of eligibility by tendering any of their identification documents before resgitering.
“Applicants who do not have any of the identification documents listed above are required to find two people who are already registered as voters to complete documents to guarantee their registration,” the statement further noted.
It also cautioned applicants to refrain from double registration as it is punishable by law.

REVISION OF THE VOTERS REGISTER – 2014
The Electoral Commission will embark on a revision of the voters register from Friday, the 20th day of June 2014, to Sunday, the 29th day of June 2014.
The revision is a limited voter registration intended to offer Ghanaians who have attained the voting age of 18 years since the last registration in 2012 and those who were above 18 years but could not, for various reasons, register as voters in 2012 the opportunity to register now.
The registration will take place at designated registration centres in all electoral areas throughout the country. The selected centres will be published in the national newspapers before the commencement of the registration. Prospective applicants are advised to check the newspapers for the registration centres in their electoral areas.
All applicants are reminded that they will be required to show proof of eligibility by tendering any of the following identification documents; Ghanaian passport, National Identification Card, a driver’s licence, National Health Insurance Card or the old voter ID card (in the case of persons who were registered voters before the replacement of the voters register in 2012).
Applicants who do not have any of the identification documents listed above are required to find two people who are already registered as voters to complete documents to guarantee their registration.
The general public is cautioned that it is an offence punishable by a fine or imprisonment or both to register or attempt to register a second time. Any double registration will be detected through the matching of fingerprints in the database.
The registration will take place from 7:00am to 6:00pm each day of the registration period, including Saturdays and Sundays.
All prospective applicants are to take note and avail themselves of the opportunity.
