The Government says some persons are infiltrating its special task force at the ports and attempting to negotiate with some companies on the payment of taxes to the state.
The courts on Wednesday May 7 begun hearing cases involving some companies accused of tax evasions.
Several other companies are expected to be prosecuted in the coming days.
But XYZ News understands some individuals claiming to be members of the task force are conniving with some of these companies to enable them to avoid prosecution.
Spokesperson for the taskforce, Dr. Clement Apaak told XYZ News “We (the taskforce) has become aware in the last few days, seeing that prosecution have begun, some people are going round parading themselves as members of the taskforce and claiming that they have the capacity to try and intervene with government to influence the outcome of decisions pertaining to next phase of the action which is prosecution of companies found to have evaded tax”
Dr. Apaak says companies that fail to crosscheck the identities of such persons with the presidency will be engaging fraudsters at their own peril.
