Pollster and Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch Newspaper, Ben Ephson has dispelled the notion that Ex-President Rawlings’ recent comments will influence the choice of delegates in the upcoming National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) delegates conference.
Mr. Ephson’s comments come in the wake of Ex-President Rawlings counsel to the Mahama- led administration to discard the current “bad image” of the party and give hope to the masses or risk losing the 2016 general election.
The former President also called on delegates to elect bold individuals capable of advising the government against wrong doings.
But the pollster has equivocally stated that the delegates’ decision will be informed by persons they perceived were competent to lead them and not based on Ex-President Rawlings’ counsel.
He maintained that the Ex-President no longer commands influence he hitherto exerted on the party, adding that lately, “delegates are more intelligent than what people thought them to be”.
The NDC has set the modalities for their upcoming constituency elections which is to take place in all 275 constituencies within the country, to elect constituency executives.
A National Delegates Conference is also slated for October 24-26, this year, to elect National Executives for the party.
