The Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Saturday took a swipe at the General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketsiah over his misinterpretation of the Supreme Court ruling.
“They are still trying to make a comeback to give us an additional dose of their incompetence. I know they don’t read, but I entreat them to take a look at the data to get better informed on our performance viz-a-viz theirs.
“They should not only read the data, but they should try to understand it so that, they don’t mislead Ghanaians like their mosquito General tried to do after the verdict of the Supreme Court on Thursday.”
The Supreme Court ruled in favour of the EC after the NDC dragged the election management body to court over the compilation of the new voters’ register.
The Supreme Court has ruled to exclude the use of the old voter’s ID for the registration.
Shortly after the ruling, Mr. Nketia, popularly known as General Mosquito, went to the media saying the Apex court of the land had ruled in favour of the NDC – which later turned out to be a misrepresentation of the court’s decision.
Addressing members of the NPP National Council during the acclamation of President Akufo-Addo as the flagbearer of the party, Dr. Bawumia said the NPP administration had performed much better compared to their opponent, NDC.
He said in order for their opponent to better understand their performance, they should read and understand the statistics to avoid misleading the public as General Mosquito did during the week.
“If they study the data, they will realise that for our first term in office, we have not just performed better, but we have performed overwhelmingly better across board.”
President Akufo-Addo has chosen Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia four consecutive times as his running mate since 2008.
Ahead of the 2020 General election, Akufo-Addo has announced Dr. Bawumia as his running mate for the December polls.
