President John Mahama has reposed confidence in Ekwow Spio-Garbrah as the new Minister of Trade and Industries.
He said: “Having worked together before, I know the level of expertise and experience you bring to our team, and I have no doubt that you’ll excel in office as minister of trade and industries”.
Mahama expressed confidence in the former presidential aspirant when he swore him in at the Flagstaff House Thursday.
Spio-Garbrah fell out with the governing National Democratic Congress in 2009 when he described some of President John Mills’ (late) appointees as a bunch of ‘Team B’ players, who were given preference due to their feigned loyalty.
President Mahama, however, nominated the former CEO of the Commonwealth Telecommunication Organisation (CTO) as a Minister-designate during his last ministerial reshuffle.
Spio-Garbrah was vetted by Parliament’s appointments committee, which passed him. He was also passed by Parliament.
