A member of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC), George Loh is asking the Chief Justice to fast track the establishment of Financial Tribunals to deal with corrupt public office holders.
The North Dayi Member of Parliament said without the Financial Tribunals, the fight against corruption will be an exercise in futility.
Outraged by revelations at Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee three days sitting in Tamale, George Loh on the sidelines exclusively told Citi News corruption was pervasive especially in the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies across the country.
He kicked against the rotation of District Coordinating Directors and District Finance Officers.
He called for the outright dismissal of District Coordinating Directors and District Finance Officers whose irresponsibility continues to cause financial impropriety at the various district assemblies.
George Loh called for deeper collaboration to fight corruption at various levels of the Ghanaian economy.
He said there must be bipartisan approach to fighting corruption in the country.
He urged government to resource the Judiciary, the Attorney Generals Department, the Auditor Generals Department, the Ghana Police Service and other state institutions to stop corruption in the public sector.
