Ghanaian actress, Victoria Lebene has opposed to the memorial service held for George Perry Floyd Jr, an African-American man who was killed by police during an arrest in Minneapolis-USA on May 25, 2020.
46-year-old Floyd passed on after a white police officer knelt on his neck for almost nine minutes as he lay handcuffed face down in the street.
Many protests have been organized in response to his death and that of other black people worldwide.
On Friday, June 5, 2020, The Year of Return Committee in Ghana partnered with the African Union of Diasporan Forum to lay wreaths in Accra in memory of George Floyd at the DuBois Centre.
Following this, many Ghanaians has criticized the government for holding such a service.
Sharing her sentiment about this, actress-Victoria Lebene the post did not see the importance of the George Floyd memorial service in Ghana.
She questioned the relationship between Ghana’s President, Nana Akufo-Addo and the deceased.
Victoria Lebene agitated the government is being hypocritical and dwelling in pretence.
