
Dr. Ransford Anertey Abbey has been appointed as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) by President John Dramani Mahama.
This appointment was officially communicated through a letter dated January 21, 2025, in line with Article 195(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 12(2) of the Ghana Cocoa Board Act, 1984 (P.N.D.C.L. 81).
The letter, signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, notes that “Dr. Abbey’s appointment is effective immediately and will continue until the COCOBOD Board provides the constitutionally required advice, in conjunction with the Public Services Commission.”
President Mahama extended his congratulations to Dr. Abbey on his new position and expressed confidence in his capability to lead the organization effectively.
Dr. Abbey’s appointment is expected to inject fresh energy and strategic direction into COCOBOD, which plays a crucial role in Ghana’s cocoa sector.
As a cornerstone of the country’s agricultural and economic development, COCOBOD’s activities are vital for supporting the livelihoods of millions of farmers and bolstering national revenue.
