Former Information Minister, Oboshie Sai-Coffie, says two-time presidential candidate of the main opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo-Addo, could be third time lucky with his shot at the presidency, should he emerge flagbearer for the third consecutive time.
The former Attorney General lost the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections to John Mills (late) and John Mahama.
He is bidding to lead the party again into the 2016 general elections. He won more than 80% of votes cast in Sunday’s super delegates’ congress, which was used to reduce the number of flagbearer-aspirants from seven to five.
Per the party’s constitution, a second congress will be held at which one of the final five will be elected as flagbearer.
Sai-Coffie, who staunchly supports Akufo-Addo’s candidature believes the former foreign affairs Minister is the party’s best bet for 2016, and thus, must be given a third try because he “might be third time lucky”.
She told private FM station, Citi that Akufo-Addo’s popularity and marketability in the party surpasses any other alternative.
