The National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has described government’s claim of fulfilling its 2016 promises to Ghanaians as ‘laughable’.
This comes after the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said government made 388 campaign promises and not 631 as the opposition is disseminating.
According to him, the NDC has been dishonest to Ghanaians because it arrived at the supposed 631 campaign promises by adding the visions and strategic framework in the New Patriotic Party (NPP’s) 2016 manifesto.
“So this attempt to distort the base and claim that we have made a representation that is dishonest, this act itself, is a true exhibition of intellectual dishonesty.”
However, in a Facebook post on Wednesday, Mr Gyamfi indicated that everything in the manifesto of a political party is a promise, so long as it is tied to the four-year mandate the political party seeks from the electorates.
Therefore, he stipulated that, the Akufo-Addo-led government assured Ghanaians that it will achieve everything in it manifestos including its visions, objectives, policies and programmes.
“The assurance political parties give to the electorate that they will achieve their visions, aims, policies and programs within their four-year mandate, is what makes those visions, aims, policies and programmes promises,” he stressed.
The Communications Director further dared the NPP to list the so-called 235 visions in its 2016 manifesto that the NDC captured as promises.
