Former National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) AAnthony Karbo has stated if elders fail to exert their authority as leaders, the youth in the party will have no choice but to take matters into their own hands.

“We will lock up them up in a room for them to unite before the 2016 elections otherwise, they will die in opposition”.

He said wrestling and winning power from governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2016 will only be possible if the party unites.

“Unity is what will give us power and we must win the 2016 elections, the youth are crying for power”.

Speaking Thursday on Peace FMs morning show ‘Korokoo’ Mr. Karbo said young people in the party will follow the footsteps of their leaders therefore they must show perfect leadership examples.

Violent protest by some aggrieved supporters of the NPP disrupted a press conference called by the party’s Chairman and General Secretary Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong, respectively.

The Chairman, Paul Afoko alleged that investigations by the party indicated that the intruders who were wielding machetes were members of the NDC.

But Karbo condemned Mr. Paul Afoko for alleging that the ruckus that occurred at the party’s headquarters last Tuesday, was masterminded by the NDC.

“No member or foot soldier of the NDC was involved in what happened at the press conference, no one in the NDC can come to the NPP headquarters and behave the way the youth did. It is not true that the NDC is behind it”.

He said, instead of Kwabena Agyapong and Paul Afoko blaming others for the wrong they have done, they should rather take responsibility for their actions, apologise and ensure that nothing of such nature will ever occur again.

He alleged that the people who disrupted the press conference were with the general secretary Kwabena Agyapong and that he was seen leaving the premises of the NPP headquarters with the 4×4 Mitsubishi which the thugs allegedly drove into the party premises to cause the disturbances.

According to Mr. Karbo, after assuming power the General Secretary promised members of the NPP that he together with other elected executives will build consensus and work diligently to ensure that the party wins power in 2016 but “it is unfortunate that we have not seen these things for the period he has been in office”.

He said Kwabena Agyapong will not be able handle and deal with problems of the party alone therefore, he must involve all members and executives of the party if he desires to succeed as General Secretary.

He pleaded with all members and sympathisers of the party to forgive them for what happened but assured that the party is capable of winning power in 2016 and that whatever has happened cannot mare their chances.

The executives of the party he said, will organise a meeting and address all these issues and bring sanity into the party.
