Kaneshie traders shows displeasure over food prices

Some traders at the Kaneshie market on Friday expressed their displeasure over the rate at which prices of food commodities keeps going up and said this is affecting their business.

The traders in an interaction with the Ghana News Agency said one cannot budget anymore on the amount of food stuff they want to buy with the constant increment thereby reducing the quantity of their purchase.

Madam Esi Twum a tomatoes seller said one bucket of imported tomatoes is selling at GHȻ 25.00 while half of the local tomatoes is now selling at GHȻ12.00.

An Onion seller said one “olonka” of onion is going for GHȻ 15.00 while an “olonka” of red pepper is now selling at GHȻ 15.00 and the green pepper at GHȻ 8.00.

A margarine tin of groundnut paste is selling at GH9.00 whiles four big fingers of plantain is selling at GHȻ5.00, with cassava selling between GHȻ 2.00 and GHȻ5.00 depending on the quantity buyers want to buy.

Madam Ama Frimpong, a yam seller, said three tubers of yam is now selling at GHȻ 6.00. Tuna is selling between GHȻ 10.00 to 25.00 depending on the size and salmon also goes for GHȻ 8.00 to 15.00 per one.
